Visit to Windsor Castle,Windsor & Eton Central

It was 23rd Jan 2010,Saturday.We started from home at 7.45am in the morning.Took the bus 297 towards Ealing Broadway n got down at Wembley Central. From there we took the Piccadilly line tube n got down at Paddington station. After coming out from the station we booked the ticket for Windsor Castle. We were 4 people me,Jit,Raja Ramesh and Amol.As we were 4,we got the group ticket for only 17Pounds(to and fro).It was really cheap,as one way ticket per person is 8pounds.We went to the platform 11 to catch our train to Slough. We got down at Slough n took the shuttle train to Windsor Castle, the station was Windsor and Eton Central. It was 5 minutes walking distance from the station to the Castle. We headed towards the Castle, the construction of buildings in the station n around the station is really very nice.We booked the ticket to enter into Castle. It was 16Pounds/person.It was nice feeling to be in a castle which we used to see in the TV since childhood with the fairy tales. It was like dream come true. This time we are lucky enough that in time we are here in castle to see the GUARD CHANGING CEREMONY.It started at 11am n it took 30 minutes to get over.It was also a chance to watch the Royal Ceremony of Queen. This Castle is famous as the Weekend stay for Queen. In her leisure period she usually comes to stay here in this Castle n in need some official works also been done here in State Apartments of this Castle. After watching Guard Changing Ceremony we moved towards St.Chappel's Cathedral.Photography prohibited inside the cathedral and state apartments. The Church is also very beautiful n carvings n paintings are awesome. From the cathedral the whole things like State Apartments and Rooms n shops are linked. The State Apartment is opened for 6 months in a year for the public n for other 6 months closed for public as official works are done here. The guards at the entrance gave us a radio to listen history and facts, which room one enters press the number written there n can listen about that room without any guide's help. The rooms inside the castle are mostly filled with Paintings which fascinated me a lot.The ceiling was painted like there was a poster attached, but it was real. The Doll's house which is the Queen's doll show room was very cute. The original porcelain crockeries are exhibited which was imported from China was breathtaking. The Arms room is full of different types of Arms and ammunitions, which we used to see in films but not all of them we have ever seen.To watch the Royal Art and Artefacts of that Country who ruled us over 300 years is a chance. After completing the tour inside the castle we moved towards the station n got down at Paddington, then by Piccadilly Line tube we reached Wembley Central and had our lunch around 4pm in CHENNAI DOSA restaurant.I tried the mutton dosa, it was really different n tasty. After lunch we did some grocery shopping n came back home around 6pm.
